The Fablab has 2 types of 2D printers, all manufactured by Prusa Research in the Czech Republic:
- 24 Prusa Mini+ 3D printers (PLA only).
- 8 Prusa MK3S+ 3D printers (multiple filament types possible)
MINI+
These printers are the workhorses of the lab and belong in the category of most used machines. They have succesfully completed hundreds of parts. All of these printers are equiped with the same material, namely PLA (polylactic acid).
PLA is the standard 3D printing filament in the Fablab for the Prusa Mini printers, it is not allowed to change the filament type on these printers.

MK3S+
The MK3S+ printers are older than the Prusa MINI+ printers and already have a succesor: the MK4S. Nevertheless these printers still provide you with quality parts for your projects!
The main differences between the MK3S+ and MINI+ are:
MK3S+ | MINI+ | |
Buildvolume | 250 x 210 x 210 mm | 180 x 180 x 180 mm |
Max. nozzle temperature | 290 °C | 280 °C |
Max. bed temperature | 120 °C | 100 °C |
Mainboard | Einsy Rambo 8-bit | Buddy 32-bit |
Drive system | Direct drive | Bowden system with 3:1 gearing |
Power panic | Yes | No |
File transfer PC -->printer | SD card | USB drive |
Due to the fact that the MK3S+ printers use a direct drive for the filament system, they will be used for more specific/exotic filaments such as flexible filaments. In the future the MK3S+ printers will be placed in a separate room more adequatly for their purposes.
